    Description

    World War 2  Saber/fighting knife.
Up for auction is an interesting historical piece. It is abroken saber which has been converted into a combat knife. The saber dates fromthe eighteen hundreds and appears to have been converted during the 2
    nd
world war. The proof mark on the blade is  WKC, they have changed  their name three times (1883-1930, 1930-1950. and 1950-1970).Their proof on the blade is a knights helmet.
The knife was found recently when a house was beingdemolished in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was found in a wall, behind a closet. The leather sheath is inscribed with Signal Corps, US Army.
It undoubtedly was brought back from Europe as a War
    Souvenir.
    .
Imagine the stories this blade could tell if itcould speak. The saber was a working saber and not used for dress or parades. It is not known how the saber was broken, but they were usually broken afterdefeat. Later, after being reshaped into fighting knife it most probably was carriedby an American soldier.
