Description
A late Victorian Scottish Regimental Skean Dhu, (Sgian Dubh) from The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) and used in the Boer War in South Africa, 4¼ inch single edged scallop edged blade with a single fuller either side, bogwood carved hilt with the Turkish knot design and set with 21 silver pin heads, the rear with a silver enameled badge with the words "The Royal Scots", silver mounts top and bottom, the top mount set with a pale cairngorm, contained in the original silver mounted leather sheath the top mount engraved, "1st Battn. 1899-1900. South Africa". The blade spotted, the hilt with a crack either side but not detached. Overall 8 inches.#9723lyo
