    Description

GOING ON VACATION FROM JUNE 2 THRU 11. NO SHIPPING AVAILABLE UNTIL I RETURN. THANKS!!
The Dave Murphy Combat knives were produced between 1941 and 1954. This is possibly a genuine commemorative Murphy Combat knife made by the son but with a non-original sheath. That being said, the sheath is in good condition with a snug fit and nice snap enclosure. I think the blade length of 5 1/2" makes it a Jr. model but I'm no expert on Murphy knives. Not real sure of the metal he used for the blades either, but there is minor pitting so it was some kind of high carbon- stainless I would assume. Of course, I also assume Taylor Swift wants me bad.
I've been told that this is not a genuine Dave Murphy Sr. but made by his son.. I've spoken with several knife makers and they said they never heard of anyone bothering to copy a Murphy Combat knife. Too much trouble and work. The owner of the knife said he purchased it from David Z's son at a knife show in the 1980's. Both Dave and his son are gone and they would have been the final expert on this knife. The son might even remember selling it. So, it is what it is and I can't give my personal promise as to who made this or when or where. But it looks, acts and smells like a Murphy knife. I just don't know and can't promise.
This piece is on consignment so there is no return.
This item is available for sale locally at Hawthorne Cutlery and local antique and knife shows in the Portland, OR area. If we ever have them again. This knife will be available at all the shows I will be doing when things open up again in 2025 or so. Hawthorne Cutlery is open Tuesday thru Sat. from 11ish to 4ish during this pandemic. Masks are mandatory but clothing is optional.
Don't forget the Antique Japanese Sword Shows the might still happen around the country. The first is in August (maybe) at the San Francisco Airport Marriott and the second is in Orlando and that date has tentatively been set for Oct. 18th or so. Both are wonderful three day shows.
    Not offered internationally
unless you consider Orlando to be international. It's not, it's just Florida.
