Good afternoon my fellow blade collectors! Today, I offer you a piece from my Kirby D Wise Fraser Dagger collection. That’s right! From a collection that has taken me years to build. Each and every piece from Kirby’s forge is forged in the traditional medieval style using forge, anvil, and HAND HAMMERED. Kirby does not use power hammers in his shop. His methods harken back to traditional blacksmithing honed by decades of crafting some of the finest swords, axes, daggers, spears, and armor the world has ever seen. Every single item that comes from his forge is entirely made and finished by hand. This long lost and time-honored method ensures that they will last for generations and only rise in value.Every single piece has Kirby’s traditional K over the Anvil on the blades (and in cases his son worked with him in the forge, there will be a B under the Anvil) and has been authenticated by Laurie Wise (Kirby Wises’ wife) who keeps meticulous records of Kirby’s creations. This knife/dagger is made in the USA (Arizona to be specific).
Almost EVERYONE in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc) and Ren Faire has heard of Kirby D Wise and prizes his work. So far, most every Kirby weapon that I’ve sold has been sold to someone from one of these groups. The price reflects just how rare this knife is, even with the minor blade irregularity. If the blade were absolutely perfect, it would be worth a couple hundred dollars more.

1.
Pattern Welded Damascus Scottish Dirk (Single K over Anvil) – A beautiful Scottish dirk with traditional lines. This kind of blade is extremely rare, as Kirby hardly ever makes Damascus blades.
·
9.75” Blade (Unsharpened). 15” Overall. Width is 1.25” at its widest point.
·
Blade is pattern high carbon welded Damascus.
NOTE: There does appear to have a very tiny bit of delamination on the blade.
·
Grip is either hand carved Walnut or Hardrock Maple with red felt buffer and capped with a flat brass washer and ball cap.
·
Sheath is top grain diesel cured leather that appears to be embossed.
The sheath has also suffered some damage which appears to be chewing by a dog of some such, but is in otherwise good condition and still very serviceable.
This blade has a high carbon content and must be taken care of. I will be polishing them up for transport and storage using Flitz metal polish which is also a protectant. The sheaths are diesel cured top-grain cow hide leather. I’ll also be using mink oil on the leather sheaths to ensure they are protected and maintain a long life! This blade will be packaged up in soft micro-fiber cloth, wrapped in plastic to prevent it coming in contact with moisture and rust, placed in a sturdy cardboard box, and packed with material to keep it stabilized and in perfect shape all the way to your door.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me. I will answer any and all to the best of my ability and will provide more pictures if you are seriously interested. My many years of feedback speaks for itself. I’ve bought and sold MANY high-end items and I’m very proud of my feedback rating. It’s a sign that people can, and have, trusted me!
