Islamic Omani Yemeni Jambiya Khanjar Vintage Silver Filigree Dagger
Without Blade.
A rather fabulous and very decorative curved sheath / scabbard for a knife (although there's the hilt,
there's no blade
),
A Middle Eastern Yemeni/ Omani Jambiya.
In silver coloured metal, with intricate applied filigree, wirework and 'granulations' and two polished carnelian stone cabochons.
This Janbiya measures 28cm by 17cm approximately, and weighs around 200g.
Estimated to be mid 20th century, but it could be earlier;
There are signs of age with tarnish and surface wear, dents and patina, and two holes in the undecorated back of the sheath, I think where it has been wall hung.
Given that the hilt acts like a 'lid', it could be used for storing small curious / trinkets,
generally it's in good decorative order.
LOVERS OF THE PAST: Unfortunately no time machine can take you back in time, but you can still feel like being in antiquity by holding this Dagger Hilt! Just facing its hand forged design and the meticulous filigree work, will take your mind away!
