Description
Antique Yemeni Dagger belonged to Karl Twitchell. He was an American mining engineer. Twitchell worked for Charles Richard Crane, investigating water potential of Yemen. Crane then employed Twitchell to investigate the water prospects in Ibn Saud's Saudi Arabia.Towards the end of May, 1931, the month the United States recognized "The Kingdom of the Hijaz and its Dependencies," - which included the Najd and al-Hasa - Twitchell reported to 'Abd al-'Aziz on his search for water in the Hijaz; it was a discouraging report, but 'Abd al-'Aziz asked him to continue his work - this time in al-Hasa. The Dagger was given to him as a present to continue his efforts in Yemen.
