    Description

The Shooters Box case and ammunition reloading gauge.
    28GA 2 3/4" Case Gauge
The Shooters Box case and ammunition gauges are manufactured right here in Malden Massachusetts, by American workers on American machines!
Made from 1" diameter T6 6061 Aircraft Grade Aluminum and built to last a lifetime.  Each gauge is manufactured to S.A.A.M.I (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute) chamber / headspace / length specifications.  The gauge will measure the maximum cartridge length (full overall length of un-crimped hull), the maximum overall case length for both folded and rolled cartridge hulls, the maximum case diameter and the headspace.
A loaded shell should fit freely and easily into the gauge.  A shell that does fit properly may not correspond to the proper chamber dimensions.
Place a clean shell into the gauge and make sure that it is completely seats by itself with no assistance to seat it.  The head of the brass should sit either slightly lower than the rim of the gauge or flush with it (acceptable headspace measurements).  If the brass sits higher than the rim of the gauge then there is something out of spec with your shell.  It's easy to check by eye or with the help of a straight edge or steel rule.  With an empty unloaded shell in the gauge check the backside to make sure the un-crimped and opened hull is not protruding outside the back face of the gauge.  With a loaded shell in the gauge check the cut-out slots to make sure the folded hull is not protruding into the first cut-out step and that a rolled hull is not protruding into the second cut-out step.  If the hull protrudes from the end of the gauge or into the slots then it is longer than the maximum allowed cartridge length for unloaded or loaded ammunition.  It is If the shell does not easily drop into the gauge without assistance there is most likely something wrong with the dimensions of your shell.
    Complete satisfaction guaranteed!
WARNING!!!  NEVER ATTEMPT TO RESIZE LOADED CARTRIDGES.  THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH.
It is the reloaders responsibility to determine the cause of incorrectly sized cartridges and to correct it.  In some cases ammunition previously fired with maximum powder loads or with abnormally large barrel chamber diameters may not fit this gauge.  Any ammunition shown in pictures is purely for representation purposes and is not included with the purchase of this gauge.  This purchase is for ONE case gauge and not multiple items as may be shown in some pictures.  Finished in a brush satin aluminum finish.  CNC manufactured to SAAMI specifications +/- .002"
