Dedicated to the city with a rich history, one of the largest administrative, industrial and cultural centers of southern Ukraine, which uniquely combines nature, industrial giants, diversity of architecture, whose name is associated with the famous Dnieper rapids. It is here that the island of Khortytsia is located - a unique natural complex - the historical and spiritual center of the Zaporozhye region.
On the obverse of the coin there are: at the top - a small State Emblem of Ukraine, to the right of which the inscription in a semicircle - UKRAINE; symbolic composition: against the background of a vertical matte strip symbolizing the Dnieper, stylized buildings of the island of Khortytsia, the coat of arms of the city (right), the plan of Alexander Fortress (left), which, like two banks of the river, connected by a bridge under which inscriptions: 5 / UAH / 2020; logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (on the left on a mirror background, under the plan of the fortress).
The reverse of the coin on a mirror background depicts a stylized composition that combines the history and present of the city: against the background of the mirror outline of the Cossack profile - the Church of St. Nicholas, to the left - a sculpture of a stone keeper of history, to the right - There are stylized modern residential buildings, below the horizontal inscription ZAPORIZHZYA, under which - the dam of the Dnieper.
